Schools of Sanctuary

We are delighted to be working towards becoming a Federation of Sanctuary over the course of this academic year. committed to creating a culture of welcome and inclusion for refugees and people seeking asylum. Driven by teachers, school staff, parents, governors and community groups, City of Sanctuary supports the thousands of young people seeking sanctuary in the UK, raises awareness of the issues facing people in the asylum system, challenges misconceptions and builds social cohesion. Harrogate and District City of Sanctuary helps refugees and asylum seekers who come to live in the Harrogate district by offering friendship and practical support, in partnership with other charitable, faith, voluntary and community services. We offer social activities that bring the families together to gain mutual support and confidence. As you are aware, at the Federation of Beckwithshaw, Kettlesing Felliscliffe and Ripley CE Primary schools we aim to provide a community of compassion. A place where all children are courageous, and who grow together, guided by love. We will be updating you regularly with things you can do to support our federation culture of community, compassion and courage as we work to become a federation of sanctuary. As well as fundraising for school, this will be our chosen federation charity for this academic year. For more information visit: - https://schools.cityofsanctuary.org/
